Technique of the week (Please note that the diagrams are black & white in the book - A book with full colour diagrams would cost about £325/book) Lower Back Category I Part of the Pelvis Coccyx - the fused bones at the end of the sacrum. Background There are two lesions. That's why it only shows with two hands. If the sacrum does not therapy localise then challenge the sacrum by moving the ilium and ischium at the same time. It may not be a priority at the time of testing so check it again later. Pre-Test Test by 1 The client places two hands on the Sacro Iliac Joint. It must be a two handed test because category I is a double lesion. Both sides of the pelvis are torqued. Test the SIM. If it tests as weak, check for priority. If pinch test shows up on Category I then try shock absorbers, lumbar imbrication, and lumbar compaction. Test by 2 Have the client place their hands behind their back, palms together and thumb down. Put the thumb into the top of the sacrum and test the SIM. Treatment The involved side is the side which changed the indicator. Do not treat
on the involved side. Then push very gently on the psis (posterior superior iliac spine) or ischium on the side opposite the therapy localization. Do this for 5 to 10 times and retest. Continue as necessary. Example When the client places the hands on the right side of the sacrum and the SIM tests as weak, the correction will be on the left hand side
Place the blocks under the top of the left hip, and under right thigh. Check to see if the SIM tests as strong.
Place the blocks under the top of the right hip, and under left thigh. Check to see if the SIM tests as strong.
If this combination makes the SIM go strong, leave the blocks in place and press down on the left psis. Also see |
